Not too much to report.
This first holiday weekend since New Years has found us doing well.
We went to a tiny farmers' market on Saturday morning, before it got ragingly hot out, with Dave's mom. Got some fuzzy fruit (apricots and peaches).
Then, that afternoon, in the raging 96 degree heat, we went to the Paseo arts festival. Despite the heat, it was really fun. We'd gone to that event a couple of years ago, and that's where we got my wedding band.
We bought cast sterling rings at the fest this y ear, made with the "lost wax" technique. They're both really cool, abstract rings.
Unfortunately, the heat related migraine that started on Friday afternoon really got bad on Saturday evening. I was miserable for several hours, but it eased as I slept Saturday night.
Yesterday was errands and grilled steaks ala gremulade. YUM. Then, a trip to the hot tub and pool after dark last night. The pool in our complex stays open til 10, so people like me, who hate going out in the extreme heat, can actually use it!!
The head ache was gone by evening. This one lasted 3 days, which was not unusual back home when my body was getting used to a heat wave.
Speaking of that, I have been reminding myself of the Ayurvedic doctrine of body types, and am going to re-employ some of the balancing techniques for my body type. In what I have read about when my body type goes out of balance, heat tolerance virtually vanishes.
I HATE the heat, it makes me sick (migraines), and during heat waves in my past, some of the dietary changes recommended by Ayruveda have helped.
Since summer heat lasts for 3 or 4 months here, instead of the 3 or 4 weeks that I am used to, coming from Chicagoland, I will need to be careful about avoiding the foods that aggravate my sensitivity.
One thing we bought for me yesterday will help, too....I got a parasol to take to any other summertime events we may attend.
Today, we went and walked an outdoor labyrinth (we had strong storms at 3 am today, so it was still pretty cool out this morning), then did lunch with my step son, and wandered around Brick Town. It was only 86 or 87 by then, so it wasn't too bad.
Came home, doing some much needed house cleaning, and then, in a little while, we will go to the gym and have our Monday workout before supper.
My brother in law is building a web site for my business. That's coming along great. I purchased the domain name today.
Too hot this weekend for a bike ride. Hoping that biking season isn't already over!
