Change in the weather

March in Yokelhomie is like living inside the brain of an undiagnosed bipolar person.

A few days ago, it was so warm that the office was hot, and everyone had their fans on. 80 degrees outside, and in.

Today, it's 38, brutally windy, and gray.   It's the kind of weather that chills the bones the moment you set foot outside.  It's the kind of change that makes everyone sick....and I've already been sick with a stupid cold (that set in after a bout of what I am pretty sure was the flu) for two weeks.

SO, they finally built my expanded desk, and it's a cluster...um..cuss.

No big surprise.  This contractor they hired to rebuild the office has done nothing but mess things up since day one.  They're always missing parts, or things not matching, or sizes being wrong.  I've always thought that my original desk, which is so much smaller than everyone else's, yet leaves a gap next to the wall, was a mistake on their part.

Yeah...not only were they 3 months late in getting my desk project underway, they also didn't have the right parts, everything the same size, and it was 30 inches too short, too.  It's a mess.   There's a half inch or so difference in the size of the top panels, so it's only a matter of time before I run my hip or my elbow in to the unexpected corner in the middle of my desk.  Yes, really.

But, they're supposed to get out to us relatively soon (6 months?  LOL) and rebuild it the right way.

Meantime, I have to move all of my stuff OFF of the desk and put it on the floor in order to do my claims processing every morning, then move it all back into place....because my work area is only 18 inches deep, instead of 24 (remember my original desk, was only 18 inches deep, and my keyboard was hanging off of the edge?  Yeah).  So my stapler, and my tray full of envelopes, my little bin with staple remover, marker, etc (because we don't have drawers), are literally in the way, and have to be moved off so I can collate.  It's absurd.

Fortunately, the manager and my boss are just as mad about this ridiculous mass of errors as I am, and that means the contractor was back the next day, on their knees, groveling, and taking measurements, and promising to get it fixed A.S.A.P...but like I said....they've been such a cluster...cuss from the beginning, that I am pretty sure this will take months.
