I've been struggling through our first heat wave of the summer.
4 days of migraines this past week. Blah.
Finally, a break in the weather yesterday (only in the upper 80's, and less humid). They're calling for a pretty decent weekend, too.
Unfortunately, my monthly cycle started today, and I can already tell, it's going to be a bad one. At least I can have hope now that, maybe, this will be the last of it's kind.
In other news, there was supposedly a showing on my property on Thursday. I say supposedly because I found some odd things after the fact. I'm no longer convinced that there was actually a SHOWING, but I suspect someone just came in to use my condo's "amenities."
There was a business card on the book case when I got in, and the required appointment phone message on my answering machine. All protocol appeared to have been followed. The appointment had been made after I'd gone to work, though, so I'd had no warning to prepare my place.
I looked over the business card. I had never heard of the realty company shown on the card, but whatev. I am not in the business, so what do I know??
The first odd thing was when I went to turn my bedroom air conditioning unit on after work (Thursday was the hottest day of the week, so it was easily 95 degrees in my condo when I got home), the temperature setting on it was changed.
I always leave it at a certain temperature setting, and when I went to turn it on, the temp dial was set as cold as it will go.
Hmmmm, thought I. Maybe I bumped it. No, argued I with myself....you have to grasp the dial and turn it, and it takes a little force.
SO...maybe the realtor tested it for the client. Whatev. I guess that's sort of ok.
Sent an email to my realtor apologizing for the fact that my place wasn't showing ready, since I had not had a showing in a month, and I did not know about this one in advance. Didn't mention the a/c setting being changed. Didn't think it was worrisome enough.
She emailed me back saying "not to worry, people know the place is lived in, and I've been there when it's 'not showing ready,' and it's FINE."
Plus, she said it was weird...but the visiting realtor had called HER to set up the appointment, instead of following the instructions on the listing.
She had to TELL the visiting realtor what to do.....which is to call the showing scheduling agency.
Hmmmm..thought I....that's a bit odd. Don't realtors access the listings in a way that differs from "regular people" and that's how they get the number to the scheduling agency?
Whatev.
I went into the bathroom and found the shower curtain open. This is not unusual after a showing. People come into your home, and they open closets, and they open the shower curtain, and they turn on all the lights...and they carelessly leave things that way.
This was not something odd.
I did not look into the tub area, and just closed the curtain. I leave it closed so it doesn't get moldy and mildewy in this climate.
Next morning, I opened the shower curtain for my morning shower, and THAT was when I noticed the next odd thing.
Bottles in my shower were ... "out of place." Now, I am not totally OCD, like some people I know and love. BUT, there are things that are always ... well.... just the way they are! You know what I mean?
I have two large bottles in the shower/tub with pumps in them. These are my shampoo and conditioner.
They sit in the same place all the time, and the pumps point out, into the tub, because they leak a little, and it's just easier to clean up the drippings if they point into the tub.
When I went to take my shower, the pump tops were turned to the side, parallel to the wall. Not pointing into the tub, as they always do, every day, for the reason I stated.
Someone had to have MOVED them.
Now, this time, I did not say Hmmmm....that's odd. I said "W.T.F?!?!?!"
Turned off the water, shot my realtor an immediate email...then resumed my non-optional morning routine, in order to get to work on time.
I worried about it all day.
Got home, my realtor's response was "Woah, you just gave me chills." She agreed that a visiting realtor should not only NOT turn on the home owner's appliances, and change the settings, but that the possibility that someone used my shower was beyond creepy.
I asked her to investigate who this realtor is, and who her company is, and verify if they are legitimate. Was this just someone off the street who called my realtor for a viewing of the property because she/he wanted a place to cool off and take a nice shower??
Or something even more creepy and disgusting?? A tryst?
The truth of the matter is, my place has, basically, been open to the public for over a year.
I guess something weird was bound to happen eventually.
It's not a very comfortable feeling, though.
I double checked, and nothing seemed to be missing.
My realtor has not contacted me back with her verification that this was a legit realtor/realty company. And, as happens more often than not, when I had last heard from her, she had not yet heard a response from the "showing."
Realtors seem to be horribly unprofessional, for the most part, and most of the ones who have been through my property never bother to answer my realtor's inquiries about their clients' levels of interest after viewing the property. Out of all of the showings I have had, we have gotten feedback a maximum of maybe 4 times.
I have become so used to this whole process, and so disheartened by it, that my initial reaction to having had my first showing in WEEKS was "What the fuck ever. I really don't care anymore...."
Sigh.....I really, REALLY hate all of this!! Why can't it just go my way for a change???? Why can't is just be over???
