It's working!

My first week following an altered way of eating has resulted in the loss of 5 pounds.

It was all water weight, and most of it came off in the first 4 days.  I've stayed the same since my Friday weigh in, even though I allowed myself to relax a bit on the strict LOW CARBS idea for Friday night and yesterday.

We went for sushi on Friday night, and I had one bite of rice and some sake.  Then, yesterday, I had a beer, a couple of little ice cream treats from Trader Joe's that are still in the freezer, and a glass of wine late.

Yes, I have a hang over, LOL!!  Amazing... I've become so sensitive to "mixing," that even one of two different things will do this to me now.

Anyway, I did NOT gain anything back from having those treats, which is good to know, since I do not intend to live in a state of ketosis long term.

I also noticed during the week that I felt better emotionally/mentally, and, despite a head ache and a little light headedness from losing so much water (my body's electrolyte balance is re-setting), my energy was also increased....and I am already pretty dang energetic!

The result of that was a week of insomnia...but that has been overcome now, thankfully.

I've been reading that there is an adaptation phase at the beginning, and I am seeing all of the symptoms.  My body is cleansing itself, basically.  It's a kind of detoxing process.

Back on track today, though there may be a beer later.

Yesterday was my monthly massage day.  She found all kinds of nasty knots to work out in my back and shoulders.  I felt pretty sore last night, so we got in the hot tub.  That helped a bit.

It's all better this morning.

As usual, today will mostly be about cooking and relaxing, although we do want to go look at futons at some point.

The air bed we use for guests has been set up since my sister and brother in law were here in June.  Dave has been using it as his retreat place when I make him leave the bed because of his snoring.

One of the interior baffles in the air bed has given way, so it's lop sided, and not holding air very well.

If we want to turn that room into something OTHER than an un-used massage studio, like a second bed room/guest room, a futon would be a great start!

I'd also like to have access to the room when it's NOT housing guests, so I can practice dance.

A futon is perfect for that, too, since it won't take up the whole floor, like a bed would.

Off to learn more about the ketogenic way of eating.... Enjoy your Sunday!
